The Communist Party of China (CPC) has been growing steadily for 90 years, since its birth in 1921. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 the Chinese people, led by the CPC, have blazed a trail to build socialism with Chinese characteristics. What makes the CPC so successful?

Although this book cannot cover all aspects of the CPC, its answers the questions people are primarily interested in, and is a contribution to a better understanding of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the CPC's operating mechanism and style of governance.

Li Junru was Associate President of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), Director of the SASS Research Center of Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory, Deputy Director of the Theoretical Studies Bureau of the CCCPC Publicity Department, Deputy Director General of the CCCPC Party History Research Office, and Vice President of the CCCPC Party School. He is currently Executive President of the CITCPPCC Council and Vice President of the National Council of the China Society for Human Rights Studies.
